Lightweight Rowing Looks Forward to EARC Sprints on Sunday
Navy will be competing for the first time since April 28.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy lightweight rowing team will return to action this Sunday at the 67th Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The EARC Sprints
Trial heats at the 2012 Eastern Sprints will begin just after 8 a.m. on Sunday. Navy is seeded eighth in the varsity eight, third in the second varsity, fifth in the first freshman, third in the third varsity and second in the second freshman. Below is a schedule of Navy's heat races:
First freshman - 9:12 a.m.
Second varsity - 10:24 a.m.
First varsity - 11:48 a.m.
Second freshman - 1:10 p.m. (final)
Third varsity - 1:40 p.m. (final)
The afternoon finals are scheduled to begin at 2:10 p.m.
Last Year at the Eastern Sprints
Navy had two crews win their grand final races and posted a total of four top-two finishes at last year's Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond. Navy's varsity eight crew placed sixth in the grand final, while the second freshman and fourth varsity crews both won their respective grand final races.
As a team, Navy placed sixth overall.
The Last Time Out
The Mids swept four races from Penn on April 28 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa. In winning the varsity eight race, Navy improved to 2-5 on the season and claimed the Callow Cup for the 12th consecutive year. Navy's second varsity, third varsity and first freshman crews were also victorious.

Navy head coach Steve Perry on Sunday's Eastern Sprints...
"This is the culmination of our regular season before the IRA National Championships in June, so we're really excited. I think all of our boats have been coming along well and we're gaining some speed."
The IRA National Championship will take place June 2 in Camden, N.J.
