Lightweight Rowing Heads to the Eastern Sprints

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy lightweight rowing team will travel to Worcester, Mass., and Lake Quinsigamond for the 68th-annual Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges Sprints this Sunday. The event, which annually features some of the top rowing programs in the country, will begin with heat races just before 8 a.m. The afternoon finals races will start at 1 p.m.
Navy crews are seeded 10th in the varsity eight, seventh in the second varsity, second in the third varsity and eighth in the freshman eight.
Last season at the Eastern Sprints, the Navy lights placed sixth for the second consecutive year in the Jope Cup standings. The varsity eight took eighth, the second varsity eight took fourth and the freshman crew placed fifth.
The Midshipmen haven't competed since April 27 when they hosted Penn and Delaware on the Severn River. The Mids took on six of the top-10 teams in the EARC varsity seeding poll this season. In dual races this season, the varsity eight went 0-7 and the second varsity 3-4. Navy's third varsity crew posted a 6-1 mark.
