"The Navy 150 squad is looking forward to the racing this weekend in Worcester,” said Navy head coach Shawn Bagnall. “It will be great seeing the entire Hubbard Hall boathouse on the course between Friday (Women's Patriot League) and Sunday (EARC Sprints)."
Navy will have five boats in competition at the EARCs on Sunday. The Mids will put three varsity eight boats in the water along with two freshman eights.
Navy crews are seeded seventh in the varsity eight, sixth in the second varsity, fifth in the third varsity and fifth in the freshman eight.
Last season at the Eastern Sprints, the Mids had four boats compete in grand final action led by the 3V8 crew, who won with a time of 6:43.1, over five seconds clear of the field. As a team, Navy placed eighth in the team standings for the Jope Cup.
The Midshipmen last competed on April 26 on the Schuylkill River in a three-team competition versus No. 7 Penn and No. 10 Delaware. Navy won two of the four races and earned the Callow Cup back from Penn with a 5:45.1 to 5:46.6 decision in the V8 race.
The field at the 2014 EARC Sprints consists of Cornell, Columbia, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, MIT, Navy, Dartmouth, Penn and Georgetown.
