(Dec. 6) - Seven members of the Navy lightweight crew team were selected to row for U.S. National Team Coach during the recent U.S. National Team Identification Camp . Eleven members of the Navy squad recently took part in the identification camp, held Nov. 17 in Princeton, N.J. At the end of the camp, in which rowers were tested on a 6000-meter ergometer, the top-24 rowers were selected to row during the upcoming season for national team identification purposes. For those selected, this the first step in joining the national team. After being monitored and evaluated during the spring season, those 24 rowers will be invited to another camp this summer, at which time they will begin actual water training with the national team coach. Those seven Mids selected were seniors Shaun Hayes, Mark Payne and Matthew Zarracina, juniors Patrick Anderson and Christopher Sabbatini, along with sophomore Marc Mooney and freshman Hunter Washburn. "This is a great accomplishment for not only those who attended the camp, but also for the entire Navy crew team," said head coach Dale Hurley.
