Eddie Carthan Named First-Team All-East

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Navy senior linebacker Eddie Carthan (Donalsonville, Ga.) has been named first-team All-East by the Division I head coaches that make up the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC).
The Mids placed just one player on the All-East squad despite going 8-5, winning the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy for the first time since 1981 and playing in a bowl game for the first time since 1996. The Division IA All-East squad is made up of players from the following schools: Army, Navy, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, UConn, Boston College, Syracuse, Temple and Rutgers. Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Boston College all placed five players on the team, Syracuse had four, Rutgers garnered three spots and Temple had two selections. Army, Navy and Connecticut placed one player each on the team.
Carthan, a co-captain this year, recorded 79 tackles and a team-high 13.5 tackles for a loss this year. He also led the Mids in sacks (5) and tied for the lead in interceptions (4).
Carthan's best game came against Central Michigan where he recorded 12 tackles, four tackles for a loss and two sacks. He had nine tackles against TCU and Notre Dame and was in on eight stops against Rutgers and Army.
