The last couple of weeks of school are going to be very tough, because it's the time of the year when it's easy to check out mentally. I'm pretty much done with tests (except final exams) in all my classes except for one. This is the hardest part of the year academically., because I have to continually remind myself to finish strong. Somewhere I have to find the strength to study a little harder to prepare for finals in order to do well. It's going to take a whole lot of praying for me to stay focused, because all I can think about is being done with this school year and becoming a 2nd Class (junior).
Practice last week was okay. I think the defense is working really hard and it's making the offense mature into what could be a solid unit. They are playing in a way that is making my offensive teammates and I grow up. It's either grow up or get left behind. I believe the offense is way too competitive to get left behind. By us competing and trying to get better it's only making them a better defense.
The scrimmage yesterday was a little slow at first for the offense. The defense came out and stopped us on the first three drives, but on the fourth and fifth drives we won the battle. It was a change of scenery for us scrimmaging on a Monday, but we were at the stadium and every time we play on that hallowed ground we have to protect it.
I know you are probably wondering how we can protect our home turf when we are playing against each other. You would think that there could never be a time where both the offense and defense had a good day, but it is possible. If the offense scores on a couple of drives and the defense stops us on a couple of drives, it's a good day for both sides. There were some good plays out there yesterday; you should have been there to see for yourself. There will also be a bunch of good plays this Friday night in our Blue-Gold Spring Game at 7:00pm at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. SEE YOU THERE!!!!!
