ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Six Navy football players have been named to the All-Independent Team by Phil Steele's Preseason Football Magazine.

Senior slot back Bobby Doyle (Chardon,Ohio), senior guard Curtis Bass (Pearland, Texas) and junior tackle Jeff Battipaglia (Newton, Pa.) were named to the offense, while senior nose guard Nate Frazier (Atlanta, Ga.), senior linebacker Ross Pospisil (Temple, Texas) and junior safety Wyatt Middleton (Norcross, Ga.) were named to the defense.

Steele projected that Navy would win enough games to qualify for the Texas Bowl where they would play Baylor.  Despite having led the nation in rushing for an NCAA record four-consecutive years, Steele picked Georgia Tech to win the rushing title.

Two of Navy's opponents were ranked in Steele's top 10 with Notre Dame ranking seventh and Ohio State 10th, while Pittsburgh was ranked 23rd.
