In accordance with the Sun Belt Conference’s television agreements with ESPN, WKU’s matchup with Navy, set for Sept. 28, has been moved to a 1 p.m. CT kickoff as the game was added to the ESPN family of networks for national broadcast.
The game will air on ESPNews and will be the second time the Hilltoppers are on the channel after appearing there for the 2013 season opener against Kentucky in Nashville. WKU won that game 35-26. It will be Navy's second appearance on ESPNEWS. The Mids beat Northern Illinois back in 2008, 16-0, on the Mids only other appearance on ESPNEWS.
It will be the third meeting between the two schools with the Midshipmen holding a 2-0 advantage. Navy defeated WKU 38-22 in Annapolis during the 2009 season and again in Bowling Green, 40-14, during the 2011 campaign. Coming off victories over Indiana and Delaware, Navy will be looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 2006.
Next Saturday's game will also serve as WKU’s Military Appreciation Game. All military personnel and veterans will be able to show their military ID and receive tickets for just $12 while all active duty members of the armed services will also receive one complimentary ticket.
For the first 10,000 fans, WKU will provide a handheld American flag.
