Navy Football Team Ranked in Both Polls
Oct. 8, 2017
The Navy football team, off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 2004, is ranked 24th in the Amway Coaches Poll and 25th in the Associated Press poll. The Mids are coming off a thrilling 48-45 victory over Air Force on Saturday.
Navy is one of three American Athletic Conference teams ranked in both polls, which is the same number of teams that the SEC has ranked. The American is the only conference with three undefeated teams (Navy, USF and UCF).
USF (5-0) is ranked 15th in the coaches poll and 18th in the Associated Press poll, while UCF (4-0) is 21st in the coaches poll and 22nd in the AP poll. The Mids play host to UCF on Oct. 21.
Memphis (4-1), who Navy plays Saturday at the Liberty Bowl, is receiving votes in both polls, while future opponent Notre Dame (5-1) is ranked 16th in the Associated Press poll and 19th in the coaches poll.
Navy is ranked in the Associated Press poll for a third-consecutive year. It is the first time that Navy has been ranked three-straight years since 1958-60.
