Comments from Navy head football coach Paul Johnson following practice on Wednesday, Oct. 31
On if this is a pivotal game with the team being 4-4
"Any game that you play is pivotal. Notre Dame has so much history and tradition, which makes this a big game. There is no question we would like to win the game, but we still have four games left and we still have a chance to achieve all of our goals this year whether we win this game or not. We take things one game at a time."
On Notre Dame
"They have great players. They have a lot of High School All-Americans. They are so much bigger than we are so it's going to be a challenge for us. We are excited to have a chance to go play them. People are probably dismissing them a little bit because of their record, but if you look at who they have played there are a lot of teams that would have the same record they do."
On practice this week
"We are trying to cut back on some of the things we are doing and making sure everybody understands what we are asking them to do so they can play fast when they get to the game."
On who has the most pressure this game, Navy or Notre Dame?
"I don't know. I would think the pressure is squarely on the team that is supposed to win. That would be my take."
On Nate Frazier jumping offside
"He's not looking at the ball. If you are lined up over the ball there is no excuse in jumping offside. It is either going to stop or he's not going to play. I have had several conversations with him about it."
On Greg Thrasher
"Thrasher will be back there again this week. He was a little raw last week, getting back into the swing of things. I suspect he will make a lot of progress this week."
