D.J. Palmore Named Second Team All-American Athletic Conference

Senior outside linebacker D.J. Palmore was named Second Team All-American Athletic Conference, while senior linebacker Micah Thomas and junior safety Sean Williams were both named honorable mention. The all-league team is voted on by the leagues 12 head coaches.
Palmore leads the Mids in tackles for a loss (11.5) and fumble recoveries (three) and is second in sacks (2.5) and tackles (64). Palmore had 10 tackles against Tulane, nine against UCF and eight each against Memphis and Houston. His fumble recoveries came against Air Force (two) and Cincinnati.
Thomas leads the Mids in tackles with 72 and in interceptions with three. He has also recorded four tackles for a loss, broke up two passes and forced a fumble. Thomas had 10 tackles against Temple, eight against SMU and seven against Houston, Memphis and Tulsa. Thomas’ interceptions came against FAU, UCF and SMU.
Williams is second on the team in tackles with 67, including a team-high 52 solo stops. Williams has broken up four passes, had 2.5 tackles for a loss, recovered a fumble and forced a fumble.
UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver was named the Defensive Player of the Year, Tony Pollard of Memphis was named the Special Teams Player of the Year, Memphis corner T.J. Carter was the Rookie of the Year, Scott Frost of UCF was named the Coach of the Year.
