Navy Golf Places 14th at the Bash at the Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Navy golf team wrapped up the three-day, 54-hole Bash at the Beach at the Sun Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, by placing 14th out of 15 teams. As a team, Navy shot a 72-over par 924 (313-307-304), but lowered its score each day to conclude the tournament with a 20-over par 304 on Tuesday. Campbell took first place in the tournament with an 861, just one shot better than second-place Gardner-Webb (862).
Sophomore David Hall (Huntersville, N.C.) shot a 3-over par 74 for the second straight day to lead Navy with an overall score of 225 (77-74-74, +12) to tie for 45th place. Senior Tyler Kuhn (Prospect, Ky.) and sophomore Chris House (Raleigh, N.C.) both shot a seven-over par 78 to tie for 67th overall with scores of 232 (+19). Kuhn's round-by-round scores were 76-78-78 and House shot 78-76-78.
Navy also had a number of golfers competing individually at the Bash at the Beach. Freshman Bryce Keene (Bakersfield, Calif.) had the best performance other than Hall with a 58th-place showing of 230 (79-75-76, +17).
Freshman Justin Knisely (West Chester, Pa.) turned in a 3-over par 74 on Tuesday to tie with House and Kuhn in 67th place with a score of 232 (83-75-74, +19). Rounding out the Navy field was junior Pat Collins (Floral Park, N.Y.) in 85th (84-79-77=240, +27), freshman Colby Lederer (Levittown, Pa.) in 86th (82-85-74=241, +28) and freshman Brad Elder (Roanoke, Va.) in 88th (78-81-83=242, +29).
Navy is next scheduled to compete at the Fireline Towson Invitational from March 30-April 1.
