Starobin Paces Men’s Golf at Navy Spring Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy’s Matthew Starobin’s (Jr., Davidsonville, Md) sits in a tie for 10th place after Saturday’s opening round of play at the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis.
Starobin posted an opening round 74 (+3) in the first of what will be two 18-hole loops of the par 71 Naval Academy Golf Course. He stands just three strokes in back of co-leaders William Bachelor of Towson, Spencer Alexander of Towson and Jack Porcelli of George Washington. He additionally is two strokes out a tie for fourth place and one shot out of a tie for sixth place.
Navy as a team is in ninth place through the opening round of play. The Mids totaled 312 strokes on the day to finish one shot in back of Saint Francis U. and Canisius and nine behind sixth-place Saint Joseph’s.
Towson leads the 13-team field with a score of 290.
Sunday’s second and final round of play will begin at 8 a.m.
