Mids Stand Second at ECAC Div. I Men's Championship

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Sophomore August Jonas’ (Jacksonville, Fla.) 1-under par 71 helped guide the Navy golf team to second place through one round of play at the ECAC Div. I Men’s Championship played at the Twisted Dune Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. on Sunday. The Mids turned in a 5-over par 293 and trail the leader, Saint Peter’s, by just three strokes.
Saint Peter’s, who is atop the leader board with a 2-over par 290, was anchored over the first 18 holes by Andrew Gain and Eric Edmunds who will open the final round as the leaders with a 2-under par 70. Meanwhile, Navy has a comfortable 8-stroke advantage over Monmouth in third with a 301, followed by La Salle in fourth (317) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (336) in fifth.
Jonas is just a stroke back from the leaders in third, while junior Chris House (Raleigh, N.C.) is tied for fourth after shooting par. Junior Bobby Keating stands just outside of the top five in sixth, posting a 1-over par 73. Rounding out play for the Mids were juniors Drew Selby (Charlotte, N.C.) (77) and David Hall (Huntersville, N.C.) (81) who are 10th and 16th, respectively.
Action will resume on Monday with the first group teeing off at 8:00 am.
