ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  The Navy men’s golf team returns to action this weekend when it travels to Princeton, N.J. to take part in the 27th annual Princeton Invitational.  The 54-hole event played at the Springdale Golf Club is slated to begin on Saturday at 7:45 am with Navy, Columbia and Penn teeing off at hole No. 1.  The second round is on tap to begin at 12:20 on Saturday and Sunday’s final round is set for an 8:00 am start.

In addition to the Midshipmen, the 14-team field includes Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rider, Saint Joseph’s, Seton Hall, Temple and Yale.  Additionally, seven individual players will be playing the par-71 course that measure 6,390 yards.

The Mids are anchored by the efforts of junior Drew Selby (Charlotte, N.C.) who owns a team-low 76.75 stroke average among the five events he has taken part in.  He has placed among the top 10 in a pair of tournaments.  He placed 57th at the Charleston Shootout, but sat out the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational.

Junior Chris House (Raleigh, N.C.) owns a 77.93 stroke average and has also played in six events for the Midshipmen.  House competed in both tournaments this spring where he average 79.67.  Fellow junior David Hall (Huntersville, N.C.) has seen action in five events and owns a 78.85 stroke average.  He is coming off a 37th-place effort at the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational and has averaged a 79.83 in the two spring tournaments.

Meanwhile, rookie Zeke Shaffer (Radford, Va.) rounds out the Mids’ lineup this weekend.  Shaffer has appeared in a pair of tournaments this season, making his debut at the Navy Fall Classic where he posted a 9-over par 151.  He turned in a 22-over par 238 at the Whiting Turner Towson Invitational where he placed 49th.  He owns a 77.80 stroke average between the two tournaments.
