ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  Following its third-place finish at the Fireline Towson Invitational two weeks ago, the Navy men’s golf team will return to action on Saturday, traveling to Raleigh, N.C. where it will take part in Wolfpack Spring Invitational held at the par-72 Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

The two-day, 36-hole event will feature 18 holes of action on on both Saturday (8:30 am) and Sunday (8:00 am). Along with Navy, teams competing in this year’s tournament include Army, Binghamton, Connecticut, Drexel, East Carolina, Francis Marion, George Mason, James Madison, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisville, Loyola, Middle Tennessee State, NC State, Troy and Valparaiso.

Paving the way for the Midshipmen this spring is senior Peter Reilly (Merrimack, N.H.), who owns a low stroke average of 74.8 this spring and boasts a 75.8 career stroke average.  He was named the Patriot League Player of the Month earlier in the week after registering a fourth-place finish at the Fireline Towson Invitational and leading the Mids to a tie for third place.

Sophomore David Hall (Huntersville, N.C.) holds the team’s second-lowest storke average at 75.6, followed by rookie August Jonas (Jacksonville, Fla.) at 76.2, sophomore Drew Selby (Charlotte, N.C.) at 76.4 and senior team captain Tim Shield (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) at 76.7.  Selby captured a top-10 finish at the Fireline Towson Invitational with his 1-over par 217, while Shield place among the field’s top 20 with a 5-over par 221.

Last year the Mids placed 15th out of 17 teams in the Wolpack Intercollegiate which is also played at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, but is a fall event.
