Mids Second After First Day of Patriot League Golf Championship
Links associated with this release: ANNAPOLIS, Md.- Behind top-five performances by Billy Hurley and Kirk Glockner, the Navy golf team is in second place after the first day of action in the Patriot League Golf Championship played at the USNA Golf Course Saturday and Sunday. Colgate has the overall lead, shooting a 441 through 27 holes and Bowen Osborn of Lehigh is the overall individual leader, shooting a 1-under par 105. Navy is five shots back in second (446) and Lehigh is third (453). Bucknell sits in fourth shooting a 456, while Army is in fifth (466). Lafayette is in sixth after shooting a 475 and Holy Cross is a close seventh (477). "I like the position we're in," said Navy head golf coach Pat Owen. "I'm pleased with the way we played today and look forward to getting back out on the greens and challenging Colgate for the championship." Four of the five Colgate golfers are in the top 10, including Eli Zackheim who shot a 2-over par 108. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders' Josh Polsinelli is tied with Bucknell's Jimmy Freeman for fifth (112). Navy's Hurley is in second place with a 1-over par 107, while Glockner is fourth after shooting a 111. Also in the top 10 for the Mids is sophomore Nick Rogers, who is in a four-way tie for seventh with a 7-over par 113. Competition concludes Sunday with the Patriot League champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
