CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- For the second straight year, Navy senior golfer Chris House (Raleigh, N.C.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

House, who will join the submarine community upon his graduation later this month, has a standout resume in the classroom where he owns a 3.97 cumulative grade-point average as an Electrical Engineering major. He ranks 32nd in Academic Order of Merit, while standing 23rd in the Overall Order of Merit which combines academic and military performance. House has been a member of the Superintendent's and Commandant's Lists in all seven of his semesters at Navy.

He applied and was selected not only as a Trident Scholar, but also a Bowman Scholar, two of the most prestigious scholarships the Naval Academy has to offer. The Trident Scholar Program was instituted in 1963 to provide an opportunity for a limited number of exceptional students to engage in independent study and research during their senior year. Midshipmen in the top 10 percent of their class at the end of the first semester of their junior year are invited to submit proposed research projects and programs of study for evaluation. Meanwhile, the Bowman Scholar Program focuses on students who wish to pursue a career in the nuclear Navy. The program ultimately has four components - a research project, a summer internship, graduate education and early selection the Nuclear Navy.

In addition to his success in the classroom, House was one of the Mids' top players this season where he competed in nine of the 10 team events over the course of the year and put together a 77.13 stroke average. He earned four top-30 finishes, including a 16th-place showing at the Bulldog Florida Invitational this spring where he shot a 15-over par 159. After taking medalist honors at the 2013 Patriot League Championship, House placed 29th at last weekend's tournament championship with a 24-over par 234.

House is the sixth different midshipman and eighth overall to be selected as the Patriot League Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, all of which have come since 2003, joining Brain Crum (20013), Billy Hurley (2004), Chris Renninger (2007, 2008), David Miller (2009) and Peter Reilly (2011).

Joining House on the 2014 Men's Golf Academic All-Patriot League Team were all-league players Jimmy Dengler (First Team) of Loyola and Harley Abrams (Second Team) of Lehigh, along with Schuyler Stitzer of Bucknell and Robert Dyer of Lafayette. House and Stitzer were also on the 2013 Men's Golf Academic All-Patriot League Team.
