Navy Men’s Golf to Close Fall Season at Georgetown Invite

The Navy men’s golf team will play in its final tournament of the fall season when it takes part in the 33rd annual Georgetown Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.  The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par 71 Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.with 36 holes slated for Monday with an 8:30 am shotgun start, while the final round will be played on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 am.  There will be no live scoring for this event.

The Field
In addition to Navy, the field includes Georgetown (Blue and Gray squads), Florida Atlantic, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Saint Joseph’s, Stetson, Temple and William & Mary

The Course
Four Streams is located on a 300-acre parcel located in the Agricultural Reserve in Montgomery County, Maryland. Four Streams is ranked as one of the top 10 courses in Maryland by Golf Digest and one of the “World’s Top 1,000 Golf Courses” by Rolex.  In addition, the course has been awarded a Top Golf Architecture Award for Outstanding Design in Maryland.

Navy’s Lineup
1.  Thomas Fricke (Sr, Haymarket, Va.), 2. Matthew Starobin (Jr, Davidsonville, Md.), 3. Griffin Peters (Jr, Fountain Hills, Ariz.), 4. Charlie Musto (Fr, Sterling, Va.), 5. Connor Jaenke (So, Arnold, Md.)  Individual - Ward Wilkinson (Fr, Ashland, Va.)

• This will be Navy’s fifth tournament of the season, placing eighth (14) at The Doc Gimmler, 15th (15) at the Fighting Illini Invitational, 11th (13) at the David Toms Intercollegiate and 10th (17) at the Bucknell Fall Invitational.
• Team captain Thomas Fricke, along with Griffin Peters, Matthew Starobin, Thomas Garbee and Paul Mauer have anchored the Mids’ top lineup throughout the fall, however, Connor Jaenke and Charlie Musto will replace Garbee and Mauer in this week’s final event.  Additionally, rookie Ward Wilkinson will participate in the Georgetown Invitational on an individual basis.
• Among Navy’s starters, Griffin Peters owns the low stroke averaging, posting a 74.00 among the three tournaments in which he has played.  Fricke has recorded a 75.38 averag this fall, while Starobin owns a 76.38 mark.  Wilkinson has played in a pair of tournaments where he has averaged 75.00.
• Jaenke, meanwhile, put together a two-round 73.00 at the Bucknell Fall Invitational Oct. 7-8 to lead the Mids’ lineup.
