Larios and Steves Top Finishers for Navy at the West Point Open
Junior Joshua Steves was one of two Mids to earn fifth place finishes on Saturday night.

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Navy gymnastics team finished its performance at the season-opening West Point Open on Saturday night with the individual event finals. Sophomore Mitchell Larios (Frisco, Texas) and junior Joshua Steves (Houston, Texas) led Navy's effort with fifth place finishes in their respective events.
The top qualifier in vault from Friday's team event, Larios competed in two finals on Saturday night. In the vault, he earned a fifth place result with a final score of 14.3. Larios followed up his vault performance with a sixth place score in the parallel bars at 13.45.
Steves equaled his teammate with a fifth place of his own, this time in the rings. The number six qualifier from Friday, the junior scored a 14.15 on Saturday night. Senior Chris Junghans (Dunkirk, Md.) competed alongside Steves in the rings and finished one spot behind in sixth place with a score of 13.8.
Andrew Potts (Ellicott City, Md.) was the fourth Midshipmen to be in action on Saturday night. The sophomore finished seventh in the pommel horse with a 12.4 performance.
Navy will be back in action next Saturday at home with the Navy Open. The multi-team meet will begin at 1 p.m. and be held at Macdonough Hall.
