Faulk Wins the All-Around Title at the ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA - Navy senior gymnast Andrew Faulk won the all-around title and as a team, the Midshipmen placed fifth at the ECAC Championships on Friday night in Philadelphia, Pa., at Temple's McGonigle Hall. The Mids turned in a season-high score of 330.3, just 0.1 behind fourth-place William & Mary. Temple won the team competition with a 349.4, followed by Springfield in second place at 332.6 and UIC in third with a 332.3. Army finished sixth with a total of 325.7.
"Some guys were on tonight, some guys were off. We just weren't very harmonious as a team," said Navy head coach Sho Fukushima. "Andrew certainly looked like an NCAA Championships competitor tonight. He was great."
Faulk, who won the all-around title at the USAG Championships last weekend, led the ECAC field on Friday night with a career-best score of 86.0. He scored a 14.0 in the floor, 14.4 in the pommel horse, 14.6 on the rings, 14.0 on the parallel bars and 14.2 on the high bar. Faulk's 14.8 on the vault was a season high.
Navy's other all-arounder, Chris Junghans, placed ninth with an 80.2.
As a team, the Midshipmen posted a season-high pommel horse score of 54.6 and vault score of 57.2
The ECAC Championships will continue at 2 p.m. on Saturday with the individual finals.
