CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Navy gymnast Joe Brading (So./Sugar Land, Texas) was named co-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Gymnast of the Week along with James Madison's Nick Blanton the league announced Tuesday.

"Joe is always steady for us and probably the most consistent gymnast we have right now along with Dan Finnegan (Jr./Richmond, Va.)," Navy head coach Sho Fukushima said. "I was hoping that opposing coaches would recognize his performances, so he could get this award. He is certainly deserving of it."

Brading had an outstanding week on the mat for the Mids. In Navy's 199.825-199.100 victory over visiting Illinois-Chicago on March 12, Brading won the parallel bars (8.40) and placed second on the floor exercise (8.60) and third on the rings (8.25) and high bar (8.25).

In a tri-meet against Massachusetts and Temple in Philadelphia, Pa., last Saturday, Brading recorded a second-place finish on the parallel bars (8.50) and placed fifth on the floor exercise (8.70) and rings (8.25).

Brading is the fourth Midshipmen to be honored by the ECAC this year. Jeff Dean (Jr./Houston, Texas) and Finnegan were honored as ECAC Gymnasts of the Week earlier this season, while freshman Drew Barker (Kennewick, Wash.) was named ECAC Rookie of the Week on February 5.
