Six Navy Gymnast Unable to Advance at the NCAA Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Six members of the Navy men's gymnastics team were action Thursday at the NCAA Gymnastics Championship at St. John's Arena, however none were able to advance.

Dan Finnegan (Jr./Richmond, Va.) placed 11th in the all-around (50.20), while Joe Brading (So./Sugar Land, Texas) placed 14th in the all-around (49.150) at the evening session Thursday night.

In the individual events, Andy Helchinger (Jr./Stockton, Calif.) led the Mids, posting a 9.00 on the vault to finish in a tie for 18th in the evening session. Also in the evening session, Drew Barker (Fr./Kennewick, Wash.) tied for 38th on the high bar with a score of 8.20.

At the afternoon session, team captain Tripp Glasgow (Jr./Orlando, Fla.) competed in four individual events for the Mids. Glasgow placed 25th on the parallel bars (8.45), tied for 25th on high bar (8.30), tied for 26th on pommel horse (8.50), and tied for 37th on floor (8.45).

Nick Willet (Jr./Westminster, Md.) posted a score of 8.60 on floor to finish tied for 31st.

Navy will return to action Thursday when the Mids travel to Davis, Calif., to compete at the USA College Gymnastics Championship, April 12-14.
