Second Annual Navy Gymnastics Challenge (January 20-21)
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's gymnastics program under the leadership of head coach Kip Simons is proud to announce that it will again be hosting the Navy Gymnastics Challenge event for junior gymnasts throughout the weekend of January 20-21. The weekend will also feature the 2018 Navy Open collegiate competition between Navy, Springfield, Temple and William & Mary on Saturday afternoon, January 20.
The 2018 Navy Gymnastics Challenge will be a unique opportunity for junior gymnasts from around the country to visit beautiful Annapolis, Maryland while showcasing their routines in Macdonough Hall on the campus of the United States Naval Academy. The event will see competition for junior gymnasts, levels 4-10, on the Midshipmen's brand new AAI equipment throughout the weekend of January 20-21. There will be individual and team awards handed out to the top finishers while also providing instructional clinics for coaches and athletes.
"I am excited to once again bring this premier junior event to the prestigious Naval Academy," said Simons. "This will be a unique opportunity for coaches and athletes to showcase hard work while participating in instructional coach and athlete clinics throughout the weekend. Hosting the Navy Gymnastics Challenge will bring many of our country's finest gymnasts to the Naval Academy.
“We came out strong last year in our first year hosting the event with over 500 participants and we plan to exceed that number this year so please register early before the junior event sells out.”
