More on Byrne: A 2017 graduate of Coronado High School in Coronado, Calif., Byrne was a two-sport athlete who earned letters in loacrosse (2) and football (1) ... attended three high schools in three different states (Maryland, California) / countries (South Korea) ... member of the 2015 MIAA “A” Conference Champions while at St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis ... served as captain of the lacrosse team his senior year ... his father, Bill, graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987 and later served as the Commandant of Midshipmen at the Naval Academy from 2013-15 ... a Rear Admiral in the Navy, he assumed command of Carrier Strike Group 15 in October of 2017 ... a three-year football letterwinner, he was co-captain of the 1986 team ... one of just three quarterbacks in Navy history to throw for more than 1,000 yards in three different seasons, he holds the school record for career touchdown passes (29) and ranks second in school history in career completions (381), single-game passing yards (399) and career passing yards (4,582) ... he also holds the school record for single-game completions (37) ... mother, Amy, graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987 and was a member of the cross country and track & field teams ... sister, Brigid, graduated from the Naval Academy in 2013 and was a member of the cross country and track & field teams ... brother, Michael, graduated from the Naval Academy in 2016 and was a member of the sprint football team ... sister, Martha, is a senior at the Naval Academy and was a member of the women’s lacrosse team her first two years in Annapolis ... son of Rear Admiral Bill and Amy Byrne.
