Once again served the role as Navy's workhorse ... played both offense and defense, along with his ever-important position on the wings of face-offs ... earned Third-Team All-America recognition and Second-Team All-Patriot League kudos as the Mids' fifth-leading scorer ... produced 27 points on 22 goals and five assists in the 14 games in which he played and started ... missed Navy's NCAA Tournament run after suffering a broken fibula at practice just two days before the opening-round battle against Delaware ... along with Clipper Lennon, received the Lt. j.g. Donald MacLaughlin Award as Navy's outstanding midfielder ... played a bigger role on the offensive side of the field in 2005 ... made his presence known early in the season, scoring a career-high five goals against Providence in the season opener and four goals in the Mids' 9-6 victory over nationally-ranked North Carolina ... named the National Player of the Week for his performance against the Tar Heels ... turned in a goal or an assist in every game except three ... scored game-winning goals against North Carolina, Colgate and the Mids' Patriot League Tournament contest vs. Lehigh ... scored four extra-man goals for the Mids ... ended the season on a six-game goal-scoring streak which featured multiple goals against Maryland, Army (Star Game) and Lehigh (Patriot League Tournament) ... picked up a team-high tying 60 ground balls which ranks tied for 11th on the single-season chart ... stands seventh on Navy's career ground balls list with 162 ... will likely break to 200-ground ball barrier which would make him only the second player in school history to do so ... scooped up nine grounders against North Carolina and eight in the Star Game win over the Black Knights.

Considered by many as the missing piece of the puzzle in years past ... after earning the Lt. Robert T. Bianchi Award as Navy's Co-Most Valuable Player (alongside Matt Russell), he was named an Honorable Mention All-American ... he is the first Navy defensive midfielder to gain All-America status ... during the season faced off, played on the wings of the face-offs, played on the defensive midfield and was a member of Navy's third midfield ... seems to be a ground ball magnet ... recorded 85 grounds balls, including 41 during Patriot League play ... ranks second on the Navy single-season ground balls leader board with 85, breaking the previous record of 73 set by John Duthie in 1991 ... tallied a career-high 10 grounders against Hobart during the regular season ... picked up eight ground balls in consecutive contests against Colgate and in the Star Game against arch rival Army ... though known more for his ground arsenal among the defensive midfield, he was the Mids' fifth-leading scorer with 24 points on 13 goals and 11 assists ... scored multiple goals four times, including a career-high three against Hobart in regular-season action ... produced three assists against Colgate in a neutral site matchup in Orlando, Fla. ... added a goal against the Raiders for a then career-high four-point effort ... scored four goals and added an assist against Colgate and Hobart in the Patriot League Tournament, including the game-winning goal in the championship game ... for his efforts, he was named the tournament MVP ... recorded an assist in the National Championship game against Syracuse ... won four of the six face-offs he took.

Competed in 11 contests as both a midfielder and face-off specialist ... won 10 of the 19 face-offs he took during the season, including six of nine against national power Johns Hopkins ... also won face-offs against Ohio State, Massachusetts, Stony Brook and Army ... produced 17 ground balls, including a then career-high four in back-to-back contests against UMBC and Johns Hopkins ... grabbed three in the Star Game against Army.

A 2001 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School ... a three-year lacrosse standout, while also earning a letter in cross country ... led DeMatha Catholic to back-to-back-to-back WCAC titles in 1999, `00 and `01 ... the 2001 team was ranked 10th in the nation ... served as team captain his senior season, while being named the league MVP ... named a High School All-American and earned All-WCAC recognition ... older brother, Brendan, played lacrosse for the Midshipmen and graduated in 2004 ... he is an Ensign in the Navy where he is serving as an intelligence officer ... brother, Billy, is a junior at the Naval Academy and was named a Third-Team All-American last spring and the 2004 Patriot League Lacrosse Freshman of the Year ... all three Looney brothers are color blind ... sister, Bridget, who is a sophomore at Syracuse, is a starting defender for the Orange women's lacrosse team ... son of Kevin and Maureen Looney.
