ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Third-year Navy men's lacrosse head coach Rick Sowell and his staff have welcomed 16 new faces to the Midshipmen lacrosse program, as the Class of 2017 officially began Plebe Summer with I-Day festivities at the Naval Academy last Thursday.

Navy's incoming class represents eight states, including four standouts from the state of Maryland and three who were classmates at Kent Island High School. Among Navy's 16 recruits, seven garnered All-America recognition, while 10 led their respective programs as team captains. Meanwhile, all 16 were all-league honorees and two were named the player of the year in their conference.

"We are excited to welcome the Class of 2017 to the United States Naval Academy and the Navy lacrosse family," said Sowell. "This recruiting class will add both depth and quality to a team that returns a majority of its letterwinners from this past spring. We look forward to their contributions in 2014 and beyond."
