2014 - SENIOR: Started all 20 games ... played primarily as a left outside back ... ranked second among all field players in minutes played (1,673) ... tied for fifth on the team in scoring with six points ... collected two goals and two assists ... had three points in Navy's 2-0 win over Longwood on Sept. 23 ... Valenstein assisted on Jamie Dubyoski's game-winning goal in the sixth minute and scored a goal himself in the 34th minute ... scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute in Navy's 2-0 win over #20 American on Oct. 8 ... also had an assist against Denver on Aug. 31 ... played 90 minutes in Navy's 2-1 win over #10 Maryland on Sept. 8 ... played 82 minutes in Navy's 2-0 win over eventual NCAA College Cup Semifinals participant UMBC on Oct. 21 ... helped Navy's defense post nine shutouts with a Patriot League-best 0.65 goals-against average ... named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
2013 - JUNIOR: Saw action in all 22 games at the forward position and made 15 starts ... scored seven points on two goals and three assists ...started 14-straight games from the UMBC game on Sept. 17 to the Bucknell game in the Patriot League Semifinals on Nov. 15 ... had three points in Navy's 2-0 win over Virginia Tech on Sept. 24 ... assisted on Jamie Dubyoski's goal in the 10th minute and then scored his own goal in the 53rd minute ... scored in the 14th minute of Navy's 3-1 win over NJIT on Oct. 22 ... assisted on Geoff Fries' goal in the 76th minute of Navy's 3-0 win over VCU in the NCAA First Round (Nov. 21) ... assisted on Dubyoski's goal in Navy's 2-1 loss at No. 14 Wake Forest in the NCAA Second Round (Nov. 24).
2012 - SOPHOMORE: Valenstein came into his own as a sophomore, ranking tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 10 points (3 g, 4 a) while playing in all 17 games with five starts ... netted goals in back-to-back games against Delaware and Richmond ... then scored in four of the last six games of the season ... dished out assists against UMBC and American and added three points (1 g, 1 a) in a 3-0 win over Longwood ... added an assist in the final game of the season against Colgate ... had an outstanding spring season and will be counted on more during the next two years at Navy.
2011 - FRESHMAN: Valenstein appeared in 16 games, missing three games (Longwood, Army and Bucknell) with an injury ... tallied two points on one goal on the season ... netted his first career goal in the 3-0 blanking of Howard ... recorded five shots on the season coming against St. Francis, N.Y., Delaware, Lehigh, Howard and Holy Cross ... played a season-high 56 minutes against Fairleigh Dickinson in the second game of the season.
PERSONAL: An outstanding athlete, Valenstein was a four-year letterwinner in soccer at Laguna Hills High School, graduating in 2011 ... also lettered twice in football and baseball ... was a three-time first-team all-league selection and was all-CIF as a junior ... was third-team all-county and team captain as a senior ... talled 16 goals and eight assists for 40 points as a senior ... led team to a 13-5-3 record ... tallied seven points (3 g, 1 a) in a win over Beckman High School ... played on the Tustin United club team ... was a junior class commissioner ASB ... born in Grosse Pointe, Mich. ... son of Rich and Kathleen Valenstein ... father, Rich, was a 1978 Naval Academy graduate ... majoring in systems engineering.
