Three Mids Earn ECAC All-Star Honors in Men's Soccer

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2013 Division I Men's Soccer All-Star teams and three members of the U.S. Naval Academy men's soccer program have been honored.
Junior defenseman Joseph Greenspan and sophomore defenseman Derek Vogel have been named to the ECAC All-Star First Team, while senior midfielder Martin Sanchez has been named to the ECAC All-Star Second Team.
Greenspan, Vogel and Sanchez helped anchor a Navy defense that ranked 15th in nation in goals-against average (0.70) and posted a school record 11 shutouts.
Greenspan ranked second on the team with 14 points and seven goals while Sanchez led Navy with 10 assists and also tallied two goals. Vogel also chipped in with seven points on two goals and three assists.
Greenspan was named to the NSCAA All-America Third Team and was the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Vogel and Sanchez were both named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team and the All-Patriot League First Team.
Navy won the 2013 Patriot League Regular Season and Tournament titles and defeated VCU, 3-0, in the NCAA First Round. Navy won a school record 16 wins (16-4-2) and won 15 straight games before falling to No. 14 Wake Forest in the NCAA Second Round. Navy finished the season ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll.
