CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Navy men's soccer team placed a Patriot League-best 14 players on the Patriot League men's soccer Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced yesterday.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport's competition. American also had 14 players named to the squad.

Leading the Navy contingent were a pair of players that earned CoSIDA / ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors. Senior Alex Foskett (Manassas, Va.) and Sam Miller (Jr. / Tulsa, Okla.) were named Acadmic All-Americans earlier this year, being selected to the second- and third-teams, respectively. Miller recorded a 4.00 GPA, one of seven players with a 4.00 GPA, in mechanical engineering during the fall semester, while Foskett sported a 3.75 GPA in electical engineering.

All three seniors on the Navy roster were named to the team, as Sam Lepley (Des Moines, Iowa) had a 3.38 GPA in oceanography, while Will Craven (Raleigh, N.C.) sported a 3.63 GPA in aerospace engineering.

Junior Wes Powell (Jackson, N.J.) joined his classmate Miller on the team with a 3.25 GPA in mathematics.

Five sophomores earned a 3.20 GPA or better, highlighted by Connor McCubrey's (Marietta, Ga.) 3.78 GPA in political science. Giiehti Christian (Dover, Del.) owned a 3.61 GPA in information technology, Will Parker (Annandale, Va.) had a 3.41 GPA in physics, Max Renaldo (Tampa, Fla.) recorded a 3.56 GPA in ocean engineering and Eric Wootten (Woodbridge, Va.) compiled a 3.63 GPA in systems engineering.

 

 

Lastly, four freshmen were honored, paced by Dave Arnold (Baltimore, Md.) and Guy Skord (Annapolis, Md.), both with 3.75 GPAs. Zach Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a 3.50 GPA while John Chapman (Madison, Miss.) had a 3.31 GPA.

Navy went 7-5-4 a year ago and welcomes back 18 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's squad. Navy's spring season will kick-off in mid-March.
