Meet The Mid Presented by Verizon Wireless -- Soccer's Martin Sanchez

Martin Sanchez returns for his sophomore season and being a part of a Navy defense that allowed just 13 goals a year ago.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- recently sat down with Navy rising sophomore defenseman Martin Sanchez to find out more about the men's soccer player from Sailisbury, Md. Sanchez had an outstanding freshman campaign, being named a second-team freshman All-American by Sanchez says he likes the friendships and the bond between all of the guys on the Navy Soccer team and one day wants to open a surf shop in Ocean City.

The Navy men's soccer team opens its 2011 season on Friday, Aug. 26 with an 8:00 pm match a VCU and on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Old Dominion. The home opener will be the following Thursday (Sept. 1) against Fairleigh Dickinson beginning at 7:00 pm at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
