ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's soccer senior Joseph Greenspan has been named to the College Soccer News Preseason All-America First Team, the soccer publication announced on Tuesday. Greenspan is one of three defenders on the 11-man preseason All-America First Team.
Earlier this preseason, Greenspan was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI First Team and the MAC Herman Trophy Watch List.
The 6-foot-6, 209-pound center back helped lead Navy to a 16-4-2 overall record last year and an undefeated Patriot League Regular Season at 9-0-0. Navy won the Patriot League Tournament and then defeated VCU in the NCAA First Round before falling to Wake Forest in the NCAA Second Round.
Greenspan was a part of a Navy defensive backline that ranked 15th in nation in goals-against average (0.70) and posted a school record 11 shutouts. Greenspan also ranked second on the team with seven goals.
Greenspan is Navy's active leader in career points (38), goals (17) and games played (58).
Greenspan was named to the 2013 All-America Third Team by College Soccer News.
The 25th-ranked Navy men's soccer squad opens the 2014 season at Air Force on Friday, August 29.
