ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men’s soccer team (1-3-0) will seek a second straight win when hosting George Washington (1-3-0) on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Wednesday’s game will have live statistics and free live video with Joe Miller on the call.

Navy is coming off a 3-1 win over James Madison on Saturday. Navy senior forward Daniel Zaremba scored the game’s first goal in the 24th minute. The Dukes evened the game in the 56 minute, but Navy senior midfielder Aubrey Jones put the Mids ahead in the 86th minute and freshman forward Nicko West iced the game with a goal in the 89th minute.

Freshman defender Toni Adewole was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Adewole assisted on West’s goal and also had a team save in the 71st minute when he cleared a JMU shot off of the goal line. Adewole, a left back, has started three straight games for the Mids.

Jones, West and Zaremba, along with freshman forward Philip Gustafson share the Navy team lead in goals (1) and points (2) this season.

Navy senior goalkeeper Mac Burke made six saves in the win over James Madison. Burke has made at least five saves in three of Navy’s four games this season. Burke is tied for first in the Patriot League in saves per game with an average of 4.75.

George Washington enters Wednesday’s game at 1-3-0. The Colonials are coming off a 2-1 loss to William & Mary on Sept. 5. GW’s Oscar Haynes Brown scored his team’s lone goal in the 70th minute before William & Mary rallied for a pair of goals in the final 17 minutes in the comeback victory.

George Washington’s lone win this season was a 1-0 result over Patriot League-member Lehigh. The Colonials have lost to Binghamton, 4-0, and St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-1.

Haynes Brown, Brady O’Connor and Dylan Lightbourn have each scored one goal this season for George Washington.

Navy is 12-11-4 all-time against George Washington. The Colonials defeated Navy last season, 1-0, on a goal by Lightbourn that came with four seconds left in regulation. Navy then defeated George Washington, 3-0, in a spring exhibition match five months ago.

The game against George Washington will be the fourth of Navy’s season-long four-game homestand. Navy will next play at Duquesne on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
