ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men’s soccer team (2-7-1, 0-1-1 PL) will play a midweek Patriot League match at American (1-8-1, 0-0-2 PL) on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Reeves Field. Free live video and live statistics will be available.

Navy is coming off a 2-0 loss to Patriot League preseason favorite Loyola on Saturday. Brian Saramago scored two goals in the first half of the game to lead Loyola to victory.

Navy is 0-1-1 in the Patriot League this season. Prior to the loss at Loyola, Navy played Holy Cross to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 23.

The game against Loyola on Saturday was Navy’s 10th game of the 2017 season. Senior goalkeeper Mac Burke, senior midfielder Aubrey Jones, sophomore defender Diego Manrique and freshman midfielder Jarvian Wigfall have each started all 10 games for the Mids this season. Burke, Jones and Manrique have played every minute of the 2017 season (935 minutes).

Navy senior captain Brock Dudley played his 65th career game on Saturday against Loyola. He is six games away from moving into Navy’s top-10 list for career games played.

Senior forward Daniel Zaremba leads Navy with seven points on the season. Zaremba has three goals and one assist. Jones and freshman Phillip Gustafson each have two goals for four points.



Burke carries a 1.44 goals-against average and a .727 save percentage. Burke ranks third in the Patriot League with 4.00 saves per game.

Navy has scored first in six of its 10 games this season, but has only been able to hold on to win two of those games. Navy has been outscored in the second half, 8-4, and its opponents have a 35-13 edge in corner kicks in the second half.

Navy freshman Toni Adewole was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11. Additionally, Burke and Dudley were named to the All-Patriot League Preseason Team prior to the start of the 2017 season.

American holds a slim 11-10-8 lead in the all-time series against Navy. The two teams played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw last season in Annapolis. American outshot Navy, 11-10, and Navy held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. Burke made three saves to earn the shutout for Navy.

American fell to Bucknell, 2-1, in its last match on Saturday. The Eagles fell behind 2-0 after 27 minutes. Tim Neumann scored American’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the 90th minute.

American lost to Boston U. in its Patriot League opener, 2-0, on Sept. 23.

American’s lone win this season was a 1-0 result against Oregon State on Sept. 1.

The Eagles have been outscored 23-4 this season. Additionally, AU has been outscored 15-0 in the first half of games in 2017. American is 0-6-1 in its last seven games.

Neumann leads American with two goals, while Vinny Barone and Max Holdsworth have each scored once.

Goalkeeper John Mino is 1-7-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .611 save percentage.

American was the 2016 Patriot League Regular Season Champion, but graduated five all-conference players from last season.

Navy will next host Lehigh (6-3-0, 1-1-0 PL) on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Lehigh enters Wednesday’s game at Colgate in a four-way tie for fourth place.
