Oct. 15, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's soccer junior defenseman Joseph Greenspan (Westfield, N.J.) has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for the week ending October 13, the national website recently announced. Greenspan is one of 11 players on the national team of the week.
Greenspan helped Navy to a 2-0 record last week with conference wins over American (1-0) and Colgate (3-0) with two goals scored and a stout defensive effort.
Greenspan scored the lone goal and game-winner against American on a free kick on Wednesday. He was also called upon to convert a penalty kick in the win over Colgate on Saturday.
Greenspan played the full 90 minutes in the two wins and helped Navy post its fourth and fifth consecutive shutouts. Greenspan cleared away several balls and blocked several shots in the two wins and held the two opponents to a combined five shots on goal over the two games.
Greenspan is second on the team with four goals and eight points.
Teammate Gavin Snyder (Severna Park, Md.) was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week two weeks ago on October 1.
Navy (6-3-2, 3-0-0 PL) will play at Lafayette (3-2-6, 1-2-0 PL) on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
