ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's soccer senior midfielder Dave Arnold (Baltimore, Md.) and senior defenseman Zach Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) have each received Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recently announced.

To be eligible for the initial district ballot, student-athletes must have attained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, be at a minimum a sophomore academically, as well as a starter or key reserve on their respective team. Arnold and Davis will now be placed onto a national ballot to determine the Academic All-America team for men's soccer.

The senior duo has helped Navy to an 11-3-2 overall record this season and the Mids are in sole possession of first place in the Patriot League at 7-0-0 with two league games remaining. Additionally, Navy has the longest active winning streak in the nation with 10 straight victories.

Davis, the team captain, has played 681 minutes over 15 games on Navy's defensive backline. Davis has helped Navy post seven shutouts and the team has a 0.78 goals-against average. During its current 10-game winning streak, Navy has only allowed three goals.

Davis led all Navy field players in minutes played during both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Davis has played in 62 career games and has started 39 games.

Davis carries a 3.54 grade-point average overall and has a 4.00 GPA in his oceanography major. Davis was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team in 2012.

Davis has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times, the Commandant's List six times, the Superintendent's List three times and the Dean's List once.

Arnold ranks third on the team with nine points as an attacking midfielder. He has tallied two goals and five assists this year. Arnold scored against UMBC and Bucknell and he registered two assists in Navy's win at Virginia Tech.

Arnold is Navy's active leader in career games played with 68 and is approaching the program record of 71. He is a two-time Patriot League player of the week.

Arnold carries a 3.41 grade-point average as an economics major. He has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times.

Arnold has also been named to the Superintendent's List once, the Commandant's List four times and the Dean's List once.

Davis and 2013 graduate Eric Wooten were named to the Academic All-District II First Team last fall.

Navy is the only team in the Patriot League to receive two selections to an all-district team.

The Mids are hosting Loyola on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
