Sprint Football Announces 2012 Schedule

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The defending Collegiate Sprint Football League champion Navy sprint football team announced its 2012 schedule today. Under new head coach Capt. Kavan Lake, USMC, the Mids will play a total of four home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, including the Star Game against Army on Nov. 2.
Navy will open the season on Sept. 14 when it hosts Coppin State at 7 p.m. After opening CSFL play at Princeton on Saturday, Sept. 22, the Mids will meet Post on Sept. 28 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
After three consecutive weeks of play, the Mids will have a bye week on Oct. 5 and will return to action on Oct. 12 at Cornell. Navy hosts Mansfield on Oct. 19 and then travels to Philadelphia, Pa., to meet Penn on Oct. 26.
The Mids will close the season by hosting Army on Nov. 2. Navy has won 13 of the last 14 meetings between the teams and owns a 40-31-1 all-time advantage in the rivalry.
Navy is coming off a perfect 7-0 season as it claimed the 35th CSFL title in program history in 2011. The Mids return 16 all-conference honorees in 2012.
