Moyle Named CSFL Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 16, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Collegiate Sprint Football League has tabbed Navy defensive lineman Jon Moyle as the league’s defensive player of the week in Wednesday’s weekly award announcements.
Moyle (Tallahassee, Fla.) led a strong Navy defensive effort on the road at Post University on Saturday, Oct 12. The junior defensive lineman had six tackles, including team-high totals of 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. In total, five of Moyle’s stops pushed Post back 25 yards. As a team, Navy held Post to 84 rushing yards, well below its season average of 156 per game.
This is the first time that Moyle has been named the CSFL Defensive Player of the Week in his career.
On the season, the Mids have garnered four CSFL weekly awards. Chris Mershon (Jr., Lee’s Summit, Mo.) was the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18 for his efforts versus Franklin Pierce, while David Williams (Sr., Roanoke, Va.) and Matt Piotrowicz (Sr., Sewell, N.J.) were the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Oct. 2 following the Mansfield game, respectively.
Navy (4-0) is slated to face Cornell (1-4) on Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Prior to the 12 p.m. kickoff, the senior class of 2014 will be honored in a brief pre-game ceremony.
