ANNAPOLIS, Md. - For the third time this season, Navy sprint football kicker David Reifenberg (So./Ft. Wayne, Ind.) has been recognized as the CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Reifenberg made all 11 of his extra-point attempts and connected on both field goal tries (27 and 28 yards) in Navy's 83-0 win over Princeton at Rip Miller Field in Annapolis last Friday. The 11 extra points made broke the previous school record of 10 made by Joey Bullen against Princeton on Sept. 24, 2004.
For the year, the Navy kicker has successfully converted on 24-of-25 extra-point attempts and 7-of-11 field goal attempts. The 24 extra points made ranks as the sixth-highest mark in school history, while his seven field goals lands him fourth in Navy's all-time single-season annals.
Navy (4-0, 2-0 CSFL) will square off against fellow league unbeaten Penn (3-1, 2-0 CSFL) on Friday night at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, with at least a share of the CSFL Championship on the line. The Midshipmen will close out the season at Army (2-3, 1-1 CSFL) on Nov. 2, while the Quakers end their slate with a road game against Princeton (0-5, 0-3 CSFL).
