Navy Sprint Football Looks to Continue Winning Streak at Princeton

The Navy sprint football team will resume play after a week off in their second Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) game of the season Friday evening at Princeton. The Mids (4-0, 1-0 CSFL) opened up league play Oct. 11 with a 45-7 victory at Cornell. Navy has won eight-straight overall and five-consecutive league games over the last two seasons. Their last defeat came on Oct. 6, 2001, in the Anthracite Bowl in Blue Mountain, Pa. Last season's CSFL MVP Chris Ashinhurst (Stafford, Va.) was named the league's offensive player of the week following his 15-for-23, 225 yard and three touchdown performance against Cornell. Despite playing in only three of the team's four games, he ranks second in the league with 420 yards passing on 30-of-54 attempts. His five touchdown passes and 55.6 completion percentage are league highs. The Mids own a commanding 55-7-3 edge in the all-time series against the Tigers, including a current three-game winning streak. "We've had a good two weeks of practice to prepare," said Navy head coach Maj. Jerome Rizzo, USMC. "I think the team is looking good right now. They are definitely excited to get out there and play again after not playing last week. After starting the year with five games, including this one, on the road, we'll definitely look forward to coming home next week for our final two games of the season."
