Navy Sprint Football Shuts Out Princeton
Links associated with this release: PRINCETON, N.J. (Oct. 27) - The Navy sprint football team blanked Princeton, 19-0, in Collegiate Sprint Football League action Friday night. The Midshipmen (3-2, 2-1 in the Collegiate Sprint Football League) did all their scoring in the second half. Becky Murphy (Jr./Fanwood, N.J.) opened the scoring with a 32-yard field with 12:52 left to play in the third quarter, to give the Mids a 3-0 lead. Navy took a 10-0 lead when Roger Callahan (So./Loogootee, Ind.) scored on a five-yard run. A one-yard plunge by Arnold Selvidge (Sr./Birchwood, Tenn.) in the fourth quarter put the Mids up, 16-0. Murphy kicked her second field goal of the night, this one a 23-yarder, with 8:00 left in the fourth to extend the lead to 19-0. Callahan led Navy in rushing with 83 yards on 13 carries. Selvidge was right behind him with 75 yards on 10 carries. Wide receiver Ben Wilson (Sr./Cincinnati, Ohio) had another solid effort with five receptions for 93 yards. Navy's next contest will be Nov. 10 when the Mids play host to Army at 7:30 p.m. at Rip Miller Field.
