ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After setting single-game rushing records in Navy's win over Army last week, running back David Williams was named the Collegiate Sprint Football League's Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Williams set Navy single-game records for rushing yards and carries as he racked up 291 yards on 39 attempts to help Navy defeat Army, 28-6. The win not only gave Navy the Star, but it also clinched the Mids' 27th undefeated season as it captured its 35th CSFL title.
Williams racked up more yards against Army than the Black Knights allowed to any team all season as he accounted for all but 31 of Navy's total rushing yards in the win.
The sophomore from Roanoke, Va., finished the season with a Navy single-season record 1,152 yards. He also had a total of nine touchdowns.
The CSFL honor is the second of the season for Williams; he also earned the award on Sept. 28 after scoring a Navy single-game record four touchdowns in a win over Penn.
