2007-08 -- Emerged as one of Navy's most successful players a year ago ... having entered his junior year playing just 10 varsity matches, he produced a 19-7 record ... shared time at No. 7, 8 and 9 ... won seven of his first eight, dropping a 3-1 decision to highly-ranked Western Ontario ... ended the year on an eight-match winning streak that included wins in each of the Mids' CSA Team Championship matches ... earned a 3-0 sweep against Robert Lynn of Bowdoin in the opening match of the championship ... followed up by winning a five-game thriller against Rochester's Ori Goldman ... was down 2-1 in the match before coming back to win 9-7 in both the fourth and fifth games ... capped the year off by posting a 3-1 win over Cornell's Pat Brady ... also picked up an impressive win over Rochester during the regular season ... Robert McDavid won the first two games of the match before Hartley charged back to win three straight games, 9-4, 9-7, 9-3 ... dropped a pair of heartbreakers in five against the seventh (Wiilliams) and eighth(Dartmouth)-ranked teams in the country ... defeated William Rienhoff, 9-3, 9-1, 9-0, to lead the Mids to a big 6-3 win over rival Franklin & Marshall.

2006-07 -- After earning a spot on the varsity team, competed in 10 matches ... dropped a five-gamer to Stanford's Ben Peterson in his first match (credited with win vs. Cal, but his opponent retired before the match) ... won the final eight matches of the year ... won six of the eight in three games, including a 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 sweep against Penn State's Leon Harner ... captured a 3-1 victory over Tufts' Joshua Levinson after dropping the first game of the match.

High School -- A 2005 graduate of Capital High School in Charleston, W.Va., Hartley was a three-sport standout, earning four letters in soccer and tennis and one letter as a member of the swim team ... led the soccer team to the state championship in 2003 with a 20-3-2 record, while year later, Capital claimed the conference title with a 19-2-1 mark ... served as team captain of the soccer team his senior year and garnered all-county honors as a midfielder ... qualified for the 2005 West Virginia High School Tennis Tournament as a No. 1 singles seed ... member of the National Honor Society.
