Dawson on Pappas -- "Will is fighting for a varsity spot in his senior year. He has had bad luck with illness the past two seasons. He could be like Matt Wiggins (`08) and Dan Hellier (`07), a player who rises from the JV program and contributes in his final season."

2007-08 -- Did not see any varsity action

2006-07 -- Earned playing time in five varsity matches ... turned in wins against Cal, Stanford, Columbia, Haverford and Fordham ... won four of the five matches in three games and the fifth match was won by default.

2005-06 -- In his first season at the Academy, turned in an 8-5 record ... played seven of his 13 matches at the No. 9 spot and all of his matches were three-game decisions ... won his debut match against Nib Shah of Northwestern, 9-6, 9-0, 9-4 ... earned a solid victory over Connecticut College's Dan Bassett, 9-7, 9-1, 9-6.

High School -- A 2005 graduate of the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, Pa., Pappas was a three-sport standout who earned letters in cross country (4), squash (3) and lacrosse (3) ... led the cross country team to the 2001 Pennsylvania Independent School Championship ... served as team captain of the squash and lacrosse teams his senior year ... two-year captain of the cross country team (junior and senior years) ... spent many summers in Canada exploring the wilderness and canoeing.

Personal -- Full name is William James Pappas ... son of Vasil and Virginia Pappas ... born Sept. 27, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pa. ... majoring in American Politics and Law ... twice named to the Commandant's List, including last spring after turning in a 3.18 semester GPA ... has scored a 99.9 on the Physical Readiness Test in five of the six semesters.
