NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- After winning its first-two matches against Tufts and Wesleyan last Friday in the Yale Invitational, the Navy squash team completed the weekend going 3-1 Saturday and Sunday. For the weekend, the Mids posted a 5-1 record and are 13-4 in overall competition.

The Mids got off to a tough start Saturday, dropping an 8-1 match to fourth-ranked Yale. The lone winner of that match was junior Stephen Huber (Lake Forest, Ill.) who swept Al Tilney, 15-12, 15-11, 15-13. Navy, though, rebounded nicely, sweeping California, 9-0, and defeating Rochester, 8-1. Head coach Craig Dawson mixed up the lineups in each match, giving plenty of opportunity for some of the up-and-coming players, while some of the regulars were able to rest their legs. In the Cal match, every player swept their foe in three games, while against Rochester, the eight players who captured victories also won in three games.

Navy collected a 7-2 win over 14th-ranked Bates to close out the weekend. Despite dropping two of the top-three singles flights, Navy swept No. 4 through No. 9 in sealing the victory.
