AUSTIN, Texas -- Navy closed out competition at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship Saturday with a trio of swimmers taking to the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center pool in Austin, Texas.
The morning session saw both Luke Hoffer (Sr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Sean Murphy (Sr., Hudson, Ohio) compete in the trial heats of the 200 breaststroke. Hoffer would place 21st in the event with a time of 1:55.19 -- the second-fastest clocking in the event in Navy history behind Hoffer's own record of 1:54.31 -- while Murphy was disqualified from the race due to a stroke infraction.
Tom Duvall (So., Durham, N.H.), who was competing in his third event at the three-day championship posted a time of 15:24.58 to place 33rd in the 1650 freestyle.
The Mids placed 31st at this year's national meet with 12 points. That placed Navy ahead of such programs as Wisconsin (33rd, 10 points), North Carolina (T-3th, 7) and Harvard (42nd, 4).
