CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Mac Anthony (Jr., Allentown, Pa.) and Laura Gorinski (So., Greensburg, Pa.) were announced on Monday as the recipients of this week's Patriot League Swimmer-of-the-Week laurels. The duo received the honors for their respective performances during Navy's sweep of Yale this past Saturday in Lejeune Hall.
Anthony improved his individual event dual-meet race record to 20-2 on the season by posting a trio of wins against the Bulldogs. He tallied wins in the 200m freestyle (1:49.93), 200m backstroke (2:04.09) and 200m individual medley (2:05.00) events. His 200 back and 200 IM times were career-best efforts, while his 200 free time ranks third in school history. Anthony previously set the Navy record in the 200 freestyle.
Additionally last weekend, he helped the Mids win the 200m medley relay race by swimming the event's fastest backstroke portion of the event.
Gorinski set a pair of school and pool records in also winning a trio of individual events on the day. She established new records in winning the 100m breaststroke (1:10.38) and 200m breaststroke (2:30.94) before posting the No. 5 time in school history in the 200m individual medley (2:21.50). Gorinski also helped the Mids win the 200m medley relay race by swimming the event's fastest breaststroke leg.
The Navy women's swimming team will close out its dual meet season Wednesday night when the Mids play host to Johns Hopkins in a 5 p.m. meet. Meanwhile, the Navy men's team will next take part in a meet when the Mids compete at Columbia on Feb. 4.
