CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Zach Ingold (So., Hornell, N.Y.) was named as the Patriot League Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday, with teammate Ben Freedman (So., Kennewick, Wash.) garnering the league's men's diver-of-the-week laurel.
Ingold, who previously received the weekly accolade once during his 2010-11 freshman season, placed first in the sprint freestyle events and finished in second place in the 100 backstroke at the Navy Invitational held Saturday. He posted a winning time of 21.30 in the 50 free and recorded a clocking of 45.79 to win the 100 free. He also was edged for the victory by just one-tenth of a second in the 100 backstroke.
Freedman's fifth league nod of the season also came as a result of his performance at the Navy Invite. He swept both boards with scores of 314.95 on the one meter and 328.25 on the three meter. Freedman's scores gave him the event victories by 13 points on the one meter and 33 points on the three meter.
Navy will close out its regular season Friday when the Midshipmen play host to Columbia at 2 p.m. and Johns Hopkins at 4:30 p.m.
