Duvall Named NAAA Athlete of the Week
Feb. 26, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy men's swimmer Tom Duvall (So., Durham, N.H.) has been selected as this week's NAAA Athlete of the Week, presented by Rolls Royce.
Last weekend, Duvall helped lead the Navy men's swimming and diving team to its 11th Patriot League Championship in as many years. Individually, he won the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events. He set a Navy and Patriot League record of 4:15.86 in winning the 500 free on the first full day of the meet. That clocking not only gave him the victory by nearly seven seconds, it also missed being an NCAA `A' cut time by less than six-tenths of a second.
Duvall also set new school and league standards in winning the 200 freestyle final on day two of the meet with a time of 1:35.32. He then wrapped up the meet by winning the 1650 freestyle on the final day. His clocking of 15:00.99 was less than two seconds off of the Navy and Patriot League record and bettered the rest of the field by 20 seconds.
Duvall also was a member of Navy's victorious 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams.
