CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –– Navy’s Lauren Barber (Jr., New Wilmington, Pa.), Brayden Lauffer (Jr., Apex, N.C.) and Jake Hedrick (Fr., Hummelstown, Pa.) each received weekly awards from the Patriot League on Tuesday. Barber was selected as the league’s women’s swimmer of the week, Lauffer was named the league’s men’s swimmer of the week and Hedrick garnered the men’s diver-of-the-week accolade.
Barber and Lauffer earned the same respective weekly awards last week.
Each of the three Mids were honored for their efforts during a sweep of UMBC Friday evening.
Barber earned the 11th weekly award of her career after being part of four victories against the Retrievers. Individually, she recorded a time of 1:51.77 to win the 200 freestyle by almost seven-tenths of a second and posted a clocking of 2:19.77 to win the 200 breaststroke by over five seconds. Barber also swam the breaststroke leg on Navy’s winning 200 medley relay team and anchored Navy’s victorious 400 freestyle relay team. He notched a time of 9:30.53 to win the 1000 freestyle by nine-hundredths of a second, recorded a 2:05.15 to win the 200 breaststroke by 1.37 seconds and won the 200 individual medley by 1.78 seconds with his time of 1:53.22.
Hedrick won the three-meter board during the meet with his score of 303.90 points. That gave him the victory by 8.1 points over teammate Bradley Buchter (So., Hickory, N.C.). Hedrick would place second to Buchter on the one-meter board by 6.75 points with his score of 310.95 points.
Both Navy teams will play host to Towson and John Hopkins Friday at 4 p.m. in Lejeune Hall.
